Texas Transportation Poll
In 2014 and 2016, researchers at TTI’s Transportation Policy Research Center conducted a statewide survey of more than 4,000 Texans to examine their travel behaviors and opinions about transportation in Texas. The findings reveal a lot about what Texans think about daily transportation choices, challenges, funding, and solutions. In 2014, researchers also conducted a sentiment analysis to more closely examine responses to open-ended questions.

Texas Freight Survey
Researchers at TTI’s Transportation Policy Research Center completed the Texas Freight Pilot Survey in Summer 2015. More than 500 Texas businesses were interviewed to assess how well the transportation system is serving those that use it to move goods and/or services. Texans depend on the freight network to such a significant extent that determining the system’s strengths and weaknesses is important for policy development. The survey results provide information on how the freight network functions for its users, which can help inform project planning and policy making alike.

Role of the Texas Transportation System in Attracting and Retaining Business Description
In 2015, the Texas A&M Transportation Institute surveyed 500 Texas businesses to determine transportation factors that affect freight business decisions, including facility siting. In this more recent effort, researchers sought to further clarify the importance of transportation in site selection decisions for six key industry sectors: advanced technologies and manufacturing, aerospace and defense, biotechnology and life sciences, information and computer technology, petroleum refining and chemical products, and energy. Researchers interviewed 13 economic development corporations, four site selector companies, and four private-sector businesses across Texas.

TxDOT Survey
On behalf of and in cooperation with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), the Texas A&M Transportation Institute (TTI) is designing and implementing a statewide public opinion poll. The multimodal survey will collect information regarding how Texans are using the transportation system, what Texans’ needs are regarding the state transportation system and other issues of importance to the departments. The results will be used to help inform TxDOT executives and policy makers in preparation for the 88th legislative session.
